Former Twin Cities resident among 'Biggest Loser' competitors

The 15th season of the NBC reality series “The Biggest Loser” that kicks off Tuesday night includes a woman who grew up in St. Paul, the Pioneer Press reports.

Rachel Fredrickson, 24, moved to Germany when she was 18 to pursue a relationship. But when the relationship fell through, Fredrickson gained more than 100 pounds over the next six years, her show bio says.

Fredrickson wears 260 on her “Biggest Loser” jersey, which also represents her starting weight.

In a video interview on the show’s website, Fredrickson says “260 is the highest weight I’ve ever been in my life and it just means all the loneliness, all the hurt and all the emotions that went into getting to this number. It gives me the motivation to change that and go out and make friends when I’m done with this whole transformation.”

Since Germany, Fredrickson has moved to Chicago, Colorado, back to Minnesota and Las Vegas to put her education as a pastry chef to work. She currently lives in Los Angeles and works as voiceover artist.

Also competing in this season’s “Biggest Loser” include “American Idol” Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard, who weighs in as the show’s heaviest contestant at 462 pounds.

The winner of “The Biggest Loser” will take home $250,000.

“The Biggest Loser” airs in the Twin Cities area at 8 p.m. Tuesday on KARE 11.
