State tourney: Litchfield, Minnehaha, Maranatha, Southwest Christian reach title games

Top-seeded Maranatha Christian Academy is headed to the Class 1A boys’ basketball championship game.

The Mustangs advanced with a 61-46 win over Rushford-Peterson today at Target Center.

They’ll face Southwest Minnesota Christian, which knocked off undefeated Upsala, 71-62.

In Class 2A, top-seed Minnehaha Academy advanced to the title game with a 91-79 win over Annandale. Maranatha will play Litchfield, which defeated Esko, 72-47.

In Thursday’s semifinals in 3A and 4A:

In Class 4A, Tyus Jones led Apple Valley to a 62-55 win over Eden Prairie. Jones finished with 23 points, 6 steals and 5 assists. The Eagles will play for the 4A state championship Saturday night against Park Center, which rolled over Edina, 66-44. North Dakota recruit Quinton Hooker paced Park Center with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

In Class 3A, Reid Travis had his second-consecutive tournament double-double Thursday, scoring 30 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in DeLaSalle’s 86-59 win over St. Paul Johnson. In the other 3A seminfal, Austin beat Marshall in overtime, 68-65 in overtime.

DeLaSalle will play Austin in the 3A championship game at 6:00 p.m. Saturday.

All semifinal and championship games will be televised live by KSTC-TV, Channel 45, and also streamed live and free on the Web at Prep45.com.
