Gophers roasted by Buckeyes in embarrassing loss, 71-45

Turnovers were once again the story of the Gophers as they were destroyed on the road at Ohio State, 71-45 Wednesday night.

Minnesota turned the ball over a season-high 21 times. They put on an ugly display during an 10-minute, 44-second stretch of the second half. During that time they didn’t make a shot, had nine turnovers and were outscored 18-3. All of Minnesota’s points came at the free throw line.

The ugly numbers came in nearly every statistical category.

Shooting: 14-48, 29.2%

Three-point shooting: 2-15, 13.3%

Assists: 7

Turnovers: 21 (season-high)

Minnesota’s starters (Andre Hollins, Austin Hollins, Joe Coleman, Rodney Williams, Trevor Mbakwe) combined for 20 points. Williams and Coleman were held scoreless.

The Gophers (18-9, 6-8) have lost 8-of-11 games.
