Finally, renovation begins at St. Paul's Schmidt Brewery

A $123 million project to convert St. Paul’s vacant Schmidt Brewery into artist lofts is officially underway, the Pioneer Press reports. Mayor Chris Coleman joined developers on Tuesday for an official groundbreaking ceremony.

Plymouth-based Dominium Development bought the historic site in November for about $6.3 million.

KSTP says the plan will include 260 rental units and space for a micro-brewery. The project is slated to be finished by June 2014.
