Target announces exclusive partnerships for Canada stores

Minneapolis-based retailer Target unveiled Friday some of the brands it will be showcasing when it opens stores in Canada this spring, the Star Tribune reports.

For its Canadian debut, Target said it has entered into exclusive agreements with such prominent designers as Nate Berkus and Giada De Laurentiis.

Target will also offer a limited-edition assortment of merchandise from prominent Canadian clothier Roots Outfitters between March and June.

The partnership announcement for the Canadian Target stores comes shortly after rival retailer Walmart announced that it is expanding in Canada.

Walmart is reportedly investing $450 million in the next year to expand its fresh food offerings and complete 37 new superstores.

The first of Target’s 125-135 stores planned for Canada in the next two years will open in March.
