The head coach for the Maple Grove High School boys’ hockey team has been reinstated to his duties one day after being placed on administrative leave with pay in lieu of a district investigation, the Star Tribune reports.
Gary Stefano and 13 players were absent during Maple Grove’s loss Thursday night at Blaine. Stefano was placed on administrative leave and the players were suspended for two games after an investigation into a incident at a home in December.
District 279 community relations director Barbara Olson said in an e-mail Friday night that Stefano had been reinstated after the conclusion of an investigation.
Olson noted that “the investigation was about the team, which happens to be under his leadership.”
Stefano has been coaching hockey at the high school for 17 years.
