In video, Fleet Farm opposes stricter gun control

Mills Fleet Farm executive Stewart Mills has tough words (video, below) for Minnesota lawmakers in Congress who advocate stricter gun control.

The Brainerd Dispatch posted a 12-minute video letter from Mills to DFL Rep. Rick Nolan, and to DFL Sens. Amy Klobucher and Al Franken, and the video generated a number of comments. The video, posted to YouTube, has had nearly 100,000 views in just a few days.

Nolan in a recent “Face The Nation” interview said he supports renewing an assault weapons ban, and he added, “I don’t need an assault weapon to shoot a duck.”

But in the video, Mills argues that people ought to have access to modern sporting rifles to defend their families against multiple attackers.

He also argues that a duck-hunting shotgun is more destructive and lethal than a Huldra AR-15 modern sporting rifle, and he sets up a shooting-range demonstration in the video to prove the point.

Mills makes other arguments:

“Gun control isn’t about controlling guns. It’s about controlling people and limiting your freedom.” He also says, “We as a people must stand together and reject any erosion of our second-amendment rights.” He backs a call from the National Rifle Association for armed security in schools. “Gun-free zones are killing our kids.”

Mills Fleet Farm, with headquarters in Brainerd and Appleton, Wis., has 32 stores in the Upper Midwest. Here’s the video:
