SPCO musicians won't vote until Oct. 31; lockout almost certainty

Musicians with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra said Friday that they will not be voting on management’s contract offer by Sunday’s deadline, making a lockout almost an inevitability, Minnesota Public Radio reported.

The musicians said they will not be voting on the offer until Oct. 31 and no further negotiations are scheduled.

SPCO management told musicians Wednesday that they had until 6 p.m. Sunday to vote on the latest offer.

Meanwhile, the musician’s locked out counterparts with the Minnesota Orchestra performed a sold-out show Thursday at the Minneapolis Convention Center on what was scheduled to be the beginning of the orchestra’s 110th season.

The Minnesota Orchestra’s musicians have been locked out since Oct. 1.
