Minnesota Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe was in Florida on Friday for a court hearing as a judge mulled whether a probation violation merited jail time. But the judge ultimately decided that he would offer the NCAA player a lighter sentence: two years probation, 20 hours of community service per month and he must attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, the Star Tribune reports. He was arrested for DWI in July in Minnetonka, and he had been on probation stemming from a Florida battery charge in 2009.
BREAKING NEWS … MT @ameliarayno: Hearing over. Gophers’ Trevor Mbakwe does not get jail time. Update shortly on StarTribune.com.
