Wolves' Love out 6-8 weeks with broken hand

Timberwolves star Kevin Love broke his hand and could miss two months, the team tweeted Wednesday afternoon. That means one of the NBA’s youngest teams just lost its best, and most-proven player.

According to Fox Sports North, Love fractured the third and fourth fingers on his right hand. It’ll be evaluated Thursday by a hand specialist in New York.

It was just a day ago that the 6-foot-10 forward-center’s injuries seemed a lot less serious (he hurt his elbow in his sleep).

As for the team, it means coach Rick Adelman will have to scramble even more to put a winning lineup on the floor. He’s already hampered with not having Ricky Rubio (knee surgery)  until December at the earliest.

Already, CBS Sports is pointing to second-year man Derrick Williams to step up. With Love out, Williams is likely to be the new starting forward in Love’s place.
