Gov. Dayton comes home empty-handed in pheasant opener

Gov. Mark Dayton was in Marshall for the 2nd annual Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener Saturday, but his party did not take any pheasants, KAAL-TV reported.

Dayton stumbled in cover and wrenched his hip about a half-hour into the hunt, forcing him to cut his trip short, according to the Star Tribune. He joked about it later by telling other hunters, “don’t get old.”

His party was hunting in a DNR Wildlife Management area.

Dayton started the event last year in Montevideo.  The governor also came home birdless in last year’s event, but two people in his hunting party each bagged a bird.
