Gophers RB hit so hard 'M' decal comes off helmet

In what may be a first, Gophers running back Donnell Kirkwood was hit so hard by a Northwestern player Saturday that the “M” decal came off his helmet.

USA Today took note of  ESPN announcer Joey Galloway’s stunned observation of the hit.
