Talks stall between musicians, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra management

Contract talks between management and the musicians of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra have hit a sour note.

The Pioneer Press reported that negotiations ended Friday with no agreement in sight and a new deadline was set for Tuesday.

Management is asking musicians to take a 15 percent cut and is looking to reduce the number of musicians in the orchestra.

The SPCO’s contract ended Sept. 30. The Minnesota Orchestra’s contract also ended Sept. 30 and the musicians were locked out after negotiations hit an impasse.

Even though the Minnesota Orchestra musicians have had weeks of dates canceled, they still plan to play an Oct. 19 concert with donations and their own money.
