One of the most effective fundraisers in Congress, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., hauled in $4.5 million in the quarter that ended Sept. 30 – and it could prove to be the biggest total of anyone in Congress, the Star Tribune reports. As of late July, the Sixth Congressional District was the second-most expensive House race in the nation, the newspaper notes.
Meanwhile, Friday in the Eighth District, DFLer Rick Nolan announced that he had raised $484,000, a bit more than incumbent Rep. Chip Cravaack, R-Minn., the Associated Press reports. But Cravaack had more on hand at the end of the quarter. Nolan began this month with $464,000, while Cravaack had $1.1 million, the AP says.
