A former Faribault prep school drama teacher, now 70, with a long history of acting parts in hit TV shows – including a naked professor character he played in “The Big Bang Theory” (clip below) – has been accused of sexual relations with students.
A complaint filed in Rice County District Court charges former Shattuck-St. Mary’s teacher Lynn P. Seibel with 17 counts of sex-related incidents with students, ages 15 to 18, the Star Tribune reports. The incidents allegedly took place in school classrooms and the dormitory at the prep school between 1996 and 2003, the newspaper reports, citing the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Faribault Police Department.
Seibel started at the school in 1992 and was fired from the school in 2003 after child pornography was discovered on his computer, but police were not told about it, the Star Tribune reports. Investigators are trying to find out why. The newspaper reports the school may have had information about inappropriate conduct by Seibel as early as 2001.
About 14,000 pornographic files/images were on the computer in 2003, and a number appeared to be illegal child pornogaphy, according to a forensic examination, the Pioneer Press reports. Seibel was teacher of the year at the school for the 1993-94 school year, the newspaper reports.
Seibel has been jailed in California. Police there discovered a computer containing child pornography in his Hollywood home, KARE 11 reports.
Seibel is a professional actor who appeared in mostly bit parts in a number of 1980s and 1990s hit television shows and films, including “Knots Landing,” “Highway to Heaven,” “Murder She Wrote,” “Dallas,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “General Hospital,” and “The Young and The Restless,” according to IMDb.
