Vikings vs. Titans: How they scored, etc...

Vikings vs. Titans?

Right here.

Over the next three hours (three and a half?), please enjoy this in-game blog we like to call The View From Section 123. In other words, the Auxiliary Press Box (the old baseball press box). Here’s our view, as of 2:59 p.m.:

2:59: Fans? Early arriving crowd…perhaps a bit louder today since they got in a extra few hours of “attitude adjustment” before the late kickoff:

3:00: Best tweet so far (and it’s early), from AP guy John Krawczynski:  “This probably means nothing, but pregame warmups #Vikings are all business, #Titans huddling in groups and dancing to JayZ and Kanye.”

3:13: The Titans come out the theme song of the old cartoon theme song of Tennessee Tuxedo. Nice.

3:22: Matt Kalil’s sister sings the national anthem. Outstanding job.

3:25: Kickoff, with Tennessee getting the ball first.

3:26: Chris Johnson vs. Adrian Peterson today in a showdown of superstar running backs. In the first series, however, it was veteran Matt Hasselbeck scrambling for a first-down pass at the Titans’ 42.

3:31: Hasselbeck sacked by Brian Robison to stop Tennessee. Titans punt.

3:37: Dome announces Packers score...Indy 30, Pack 27,. Biggest cheer of the young afternoon. Green Bay falls to 2-3. Not much sympathy in purple.

3:37: Roger Goodell, earlier, telling reporters at Mall of America Field: “Yeah, I kind of think the Packers, suck, too..” (Not bad for a made-up quote!)…

3:38: And someone tweets “That loss to Indy seems more legit, now.” Uh, no it doesn’t.

3:45: Ponder tosses 45-yard pass to Percy Harvin. In red zone.

3:46: VIKINGS 7, TITANS 0 — Percy Harvin runs it in from the 4-yard-line. Impressive 91-yard drive.

3:56: Chad Greenway drops interception on 2nd and 12. On the next play, Hasselbeck scrambles for a first down. He’s tough. But Leslie Frazier challenges the spot…and wins. Fourth down Titans, which they make.

4:02: On next play, Harrison Smith recovers Chris Johnson  fumble.

4:03: Great tweet from Twin Cities sports journalist, Larry Fitzgerald: “Percy Harvin 698 combined yards in teams first 4 games a new Vikings team record. My son thinks he might be the most dynamic threat in football.”

4:12: Meanwhile, no sympathy on Twitter for Packers. Dagger of a stat from ESPN: “Packers lost to Colts after leading by 18 points at halftime, their largest blown halftime lead since November 1957.” Ouch.

4:15: Antoine Winfield intercepts Hasselbeck pass. After Harrison Smith  penalty…Smith bounced from the game for shoving ref.

4:20: VIKINGS 10, TITANS 0 — Blair Walsh 42-yard FG  makes it a 10-point game.

4:26: Timely Tweet from KFAN 100.3 FM: “Blair Walsh sets new Vikings record with 10 field goals in first season.”

4:33: Lynx advance to WNBA finals again with a last-second win over L.A. Sparks. All this town does is win. (Well, not counting that baseball season.)

4:39: Nasty-gram, though from Tweeting Dana Wessel: “The Vikings are good this year. We don’t have to pretend like we care about the Lynx.” That’s mean!

4:42: VIKINGS 13, TITANS 0 –  Blair Walsh hits a 36-yarder to add to Vikings lead.

4:45: Great Tweet from A. Fonk:  “Overheard in crowd: ‘Go back to TN cuz you guys dont know how to farm corn that well.’” We concur!

4:46: Jared Allen sacks Hasselbeck, who is looking very mortal right now. With 1:37 left in half, Titans forced to punt on 4th and 24 from their 6. Vikings look really good.

4:48 Vikings in two-minute offense. Looking to to add more. Ponder throwing to sidelines. 1:04 left, ball on Titans 37.

4:52: Ponder throws his first interception of year to kill drive. Safety Robert Johnson comes down with tipped ball at the 4-yard line with :15 on the clock.

4:53: Tweet from KFAN’s A.J. Mansour: “142 attempts for Ponder with no INTs, until that one.”

5:02: AP writer Dave Campbell sums up first half very eloquently in this Tweet: “#Vikings lead 13-0 at halftime. Uneven offense, but defense has been awfully tough again.”

5:11: Adrian Peterson goes through huge hole for massive 34-yard run to start the second half. He has 70 yards on 11 carries so far.

5:13: Ponder picked off again! (Second int. in as many tosses.) This time by Titans’ Jordan Babineaux at the Titans’ 40. But Tenn. can’t do anything with the ball, and they punt.

5:16: Nasty-gram II, from LuvMNSports: “Bring in Joe Webb.”

5:18: John Carlson sighting! Missing tight end comes off milk carton to catch a pass for two yards!

5:19: Toby Gerhart sighting! Backup RB rumbles for 22-yards to the Titans’ 38.

5:25: VIKINGS 16, TITANS 0 — Blair Walsh hits third FG of day, this one from 26 yards out.

5:30: The Vikings announce at crowd of 57,652. Another non-sellout. They may need wins over Bears and Packers to regain non-believers.

5:36: Adrian Peterson rips off a 22-yard run. He’s on his way to a second-consecutive 100-yard game.

5:37: VIKINGS 23, TITANS 0 — Harvin dazzling touchdown catch and run from the 10-yard-line. MVP.

5:52: VIKINGS 23, TITANS 7 — Titans get on the scoreboard with a Hasselbeck to Jared Cook TD pass.

5:54: Titans try onside kick, and … fail to get it. Time for Vikings to put this away.

6:02: VIKINGS 30, TITANS 7 –  Ponder connects with Kyle Rudolph on a 15-yard TD pass to make it a 23-point lead again.

6:05: With 6:38 left, a lot of purple fans leaving. This time last year: They were leaving early for a much different reason. They couldn’t take it. This year: Just beatin’ traffic.

6:15: Titans on the move, but with just 2:57 left, this one is over.

6:19: Fourth and 1 at Vikings 9-yard line. Titans stopped. No way Tenn. can win, as garbage time begins. Vikings move to 4-1.

6:21: FINAL: VIKINGS 30, TITANS 7
