Design firm for Vikings stadium to travel the state

HKS Inc., the Dallas-based architectural firm hired to design the new $975 million home for the Minnesota Vikings, plans to tour the state to gather ideas from Minnesotans, the Star Tribune reports. The first meeting is set for Monday, Oct. 15, at Minneapolis City Hall. A rendering of the new downtown Minneapolis stadium isn’t expected to be unveiled until after the first of the year.

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority and the Vikings chose HKS from among five finalists.

HKS’s resume includes new high-tech NFL stadiums for the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts.

The new Vikings stadium is expected to open in 2016.
