2 with Minnesota ties were behind Romney video

The video of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney speaking to wealthy donors, in which he says 47 percent of the population “believe that they are victims,” surfaced in part due to the work of Monika Bauerlein and Clara Jeffery, co-editors of Mother Jones magazine, the Star Tribune reports. Bauerlein is the former managing editor of City Pages. Jeffery graduated from Carleton College. The two worked closely with Mother Jones Washington bureau chief David Corn, who obtained the tape from a source he says he cannot divulge.

NBC News recently had more of the back story on how the tape was leaked. The incident was a stark example of just how powerful a viral video can be in a new digital age, CBS News said in a recent story.
