City Pages faces criticism for running Backpage ads

A New York blogger is criticizing local businesses that advertise in Minneapolis City Pages because of the publication’s affiliation with Backpage.com, a controversial adult section of the classified ads tied to child sex trafficking cases in Minneapolis.

The VillageVoicePimp.com praises the Hennepin County Bar Association for discontinuing their ads in City Pages and asks Minnesotans to “gently elbow” current advertisers to do the same.

The Star Tribune says businesses like First Avenue rely on City Pages as their primary mode of print advertising. First Avenue general manager tells the newspaper that the issue is worth looking into.
