Another swine flu case linked to Dakota County animal market

The Minnesota Department of Health tells KARE 11 News a second confirmed case of the flu virus H3N2v, or swine flu, is linked to a Dakota County live animal market where a man in his 20s purchased a pig on Aug 17.

The Star Tribune reports the first case in Minnesota was reported last week when a pre-schooler got sick after visiting the same live-animal market on Aug. 10. An older sibling also developed flu-like symptoms, but the virus was only detected in the younger child.

Swine flu concerns made for some added precautions at the Minnesota State Fair but veterinarians gave the pigs a clean bill of health.
