Pressure on Gauthier to drop re-election bid intensifies

Calls for Rep. Kerry Gauthier, DFL-Duluth, to give up his re-election bid intensified this week as House Minority leader Paul Thissen, DFL-Minneapolis, told reporters Tuesday that he’s exploring options under state election law to remove Gauthier’s name from the November ballot, MPR reports.

Leaders of his party have been leaning on him to get out of the race, MinnPost reported Monday.

He’s also been under fire from Republicans.
