Crash knocks Twin Cities TV news anchor off bike – and off the air

KARE-11 news anchor Randy Shaver says on his Facebook page that he suffered a broken arm and scrapes to his face in a bike accident. Shaver had only recently been named the co-anchor of the station’s nightly newscasts.

Randy didn’t post it, but his co-anchor, Julie Nelson, provides a glimpse of how he looks post-accident.

While biking Tuesday morning, Shaver came around a curve and nearly hit a teenage boy. He reacted by slamming on his brakes, causing him to go over his handlebars.

It’s not clear when he’ll be back on the air, KARE 11 says.
