Rybak: Promises to prevent another bridge collapse have not been kept

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak says policymakers who promised to do everything possible to prevent another tragedy like the 35W bridge collapse have failed to keep their word.

Authorities recognized even at the time that the bridge collapse was a seminal event in Minnesota history. Some collected and stowed away artifacts from that fateful day. But there are no plans yet to display them because the pain of the disaster is still too fresh.
