St. Paul native eliminated from epee fencing in London

An Olympic fencer from St. Paul bowed out of the London Games in the first individual round of the women’s epee fencing competition on Monday, the Pioneer Press reports. Susie Scanlan will compete in the team event when the U.S. takes on Italy on Saturday.

21-year-old Scanlan was named to the U.S. women’s Olympic fencing team in April after she had a breakthrough performance in February to boost her point standings.
