Minnesota Zephyr rolls out of Stillwater

Crews are in the process of moving the landmark locomotive from the old Stillwater Depot Grill to the Bayport area, the Star Tribune reports.

From there, the Zephyr may head west to Oregon to be refurbished and used as a dinner train once again. Owner David Paradeau told the Stillwater Patch, “There are a couple of interested parties, but no cigar.”

The vintage dinner train stopped running in 2008 after operating for more than two decades. Paradeau sold the 5.9-mile railroad corridor to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for $4.25 million last year. The area will become the Brown’s Creek State Trail and will connect to the Gateway State Trail west of Stillwater.
