Twin Cities metro ranked No. 85 for job growth

The Twin Cities metro was No. 85 on a list of 365 metro areas for economic and job growth.

Rochester was higher, at No. 66, the Post Bulletin reports. Rochester’s local economy is fueled by Mayo Clinic, said Gary Smith, president of Rochester Area Economic Development, Inc. The manufacturing industry has also added jobs, and the dairy and food industry has been doing well.

The analysis was done by Area Development magazine, and considered two dozen different economic and workforce indicators from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the U.S. Census American Community Survey.

MPR recently examined how Mayo expansion – and an aging population – are fueling boom times in Rochester.
